AOR HEAVEN RELEASES!

FRONTLINE - Heroes (digitally remastered)

A: 11 € B: 13 €

Heroes (Edit)

On The Run (Edit)

Our Love (Edit)

Only available in Japan for a long time and now finally back in the shelves over here, too. “Heroes“, the legendary second FRONTLINE record from 1995 is an album stylistically pretty close to the mighty JOURNEY. Probably none other German band got this close again. It’s because of the song material itself and because of the charismatic voice of Stefan Kämmerer as well as Robby Boebel’s guitars that one cannot deny this comparison. Brilliant tracks by the likes of “Our Love“, “Someone To Love“, “Break My Heart Again“ and of course the single “Man In Motion“ make this diamond shine. Should be part of every serious collection. One of the true classics in melodic rock. Easy to imagine what would have happened if this record originally had come out a few years earlier. Remastered by Robby Boebel (g) und limited to 1000 units. Grab it!

IMPERIUM - Beyond The Stars

A: 11 € B: 13 €

Beyond The Stars (Edit)

Crash And Burn (Edit)

Learning How To Fly (Edit)

IMPERIUM, the solo project of STRIKE drummer Mika Brushane (d/b/keys) from Finland is back for good. With a bang! Ten AOR/melodic rock gems that are produced very powerful, too, can be found. Two tracks, one of them is the title track, see none but Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69, KHYMERA) on vocals. Apart from him, the musicians involved are Finish and although having three different vocalists, the whole material is surprisingly tight. “Back In ’85“ and “World On Fire“ should definitely convince people. Songs that put a smile in your face. With “Beyond The Stars“, IMPERIUM by now is a serious player in the melodic scene. Lots of mighty keyboards, melodies all over the place and poppy guitars make you feel like it’s somehow 1985 again. Amazing stuff!

EXPECTED NEW RELEASES!

Y & T - Contagious (JAP CD)

A: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

For "Contagious" (1987), Dave Meniketti & co. changed recording label, Jimmy DeGrasso replaced founder drummer Leonard Haze, and they got Canadian Kevin Beamish (Keel, MSG, Starship) to produce. Indeed, it's 1987 and everything boom on this Y&T record; multi-layered choruses, insane multi-tracked double guitar attack, a bombastic rhythm section and Dave's lead vocals sounding bigger than ever. All tracks are pure US melodic rock gold from 'L.A. Rocks' or the title track to 'Temptation' or 'Eyes Of A Stranger'. "Contagious" never was remastered, nor this reissue, but this Japanese release sounds fantastic. It may be the new digital transfer technique - so believe me, it's incredibly clear and powerful.

NEW RELEASES IN STOCK !

RYAN ROXIE - Imagine Your Reality

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

Best known for his work with Alice Cooper, Electric Angels, Casablanca, Gilby Clarke and Slash’s Snakepit, American guitarist Ryan Roxie has emerged with his first official solo album. The record features a myriad of musicians, including a special guest appearance from Cheap Trick frontman Robin Zander. As one would expect from a talented axe-man, "Imagine Your Reality" is a guitar-driven opus of hard, catchy melodies which are influenced by a number of styles ranging from punky vibes to straight up rock ‘n’ roll and pop sensibilities. There is no overblown filler here, what you get is 10 songs that are straight to the point, mostly weighing in at under 3 and a half minutes and all featuring some great guitar work.

NILS PATRIK JOHANSSON - Evil Deluxe
(ltd. edition digi pack)

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Swedish singer Nils Patrik Johansson makes his first solo album called Evil Deluxe that is claimed to be an album going back to the roots of heavy metal, a nostalgic album looking back rather than forward. He is known for being the singer of Astral Doors and Lion’s Share and often compared with the late great Ronnie James Dio. Basically this album could just have been something by Astral Doors as there is hardly not that much that makes this album different from his main band. Depending if you want to hear something new on a solo album from an established songer or pretty much the same stuff as he did before the overall rating is not easy to make. Astral Doors fans will surely dig this a lot, even if it's the same stuff.

FARGO - Constellation (ltd. edition digi pack)

A: 13,5 € B: 16 €

Probably “Constellation“ is only there thanks to the recent book of bass player and bandleader Peter Knorn about his career and experiences in the music business. And that’s quite good because the twelve songs are cool classic rock tracks which rock like hell! 36 years after the last FARGO-release, the German band from Hannover of which the similar sounding VICTORY should arise later on, is back. Timeless rock music that will take you by storm.

LORDI - Sexorcism (ltd. edition digi pack)

A: 13,5 € B: 16 €

The shock rockers from up north in the cold Finland (finally!) fully deliver again after one or two rather average albums. “Sexorcism“ has got versatile songwriting, a much clearer production und of course the unique voice of their front monster. In for instance “The Beast Is Yet To Come“ or “Sodomesticated Animal“ the songtitles do the talking. Parents, lock up your children, LORDI is back!

SPECIAL OFFERS!

ALCATRAZZ - Disturbing The Peace (digitally remastered)

A: 8,5 € B: 10,5 €

Alcatrazz rebounded from the loss of Yngwie J Malmsteen and promptly replaced him with another guitar wizard, Steve Vai, who had been playing with Frank Zappa's band. How Bonnet tempted him to join Alcatrazz is a mystery but he at least helped them record a startling hard rock album. AOR shadings are always present in their sound, mainly in the melodic guitar and keyboard solo's. Bonnet is too much of a rocker to be strictly AOR thankfully. This was miles ahead of the ragged debut, Vai and Bonnet composing all but three songs themselves. It is impossible when listening to this not to think of either Vai's later work in the David Lee Roth Band or Bonnet's time in Rainbow or MSG. Their styles are so identifiable with both acts that the sound is an agreeable combination of the two.

LAKE - Ouch! + Hot Day (digitally remastered)

A: 8,5 € B: 10,5 €

Lake was/ is  a German rock/pop/band with a Scottish lead singer : James Hopkins-Harrison (whom sadly passed away in 1991) this two albums on one CD holds their "Ouch!"(1980)  & "Hot Day" (1981) releases and if you are a friend of City Boy, Little River Band and Toto..then you are in for treat of great pop--rock tunes galore. "Ouch!" was the first album to be released following the departure of three members of the band from their peak period, Detlef Petersen, Geoffrey Peacey, and Martin Tiefense, who were replaced by Frank Hieber, Achim Opperman, and Heiko Efferz. This personal changes didn't affected the music as both albums continued their series of excellent releases and should fine a good home with every serious AOR- and west coast lover.
