AOR HEAVEN SPECIAL RELEASE!
RETURN - V (digitally remastered)
|
A: 11 € |
B: 13 € |
|
|
.jpg) |
The rerelease of “V“, probably the best album of Norwegian melodic rockers, makes sense, absolutely no doubt about that. The records sounds way more international than the first four efforts, as it successfully combines the typical American stadium rock sound with a little bit of British blues in the vein of WHITESNAKE and the original Scandinavian AOR. Outstanding tracks like “Take This Heart“ or “Ridin’ On A Rainbow“ would have been major hits back then in a world without grunge in 1992, of course. Frontmann Knut Erik Østgård is easily recognizable and the production is really big time. Digitally remastered re-issue incl. liner notes by Dave Reynolds, new pictures and strictly limited to 1000 copies.

ARKADO - Never Say Never
|
A: 11 € |
B: 13 € |
|

ARKADO hails from Sweden and plays melodic rock and AOR without compromises. Their first ever full-length release in thirty-seven years of „band history“, of which the band didn’t exist for the most part, is full of melodies and versatile arrangements. A great eighties record…from 2020. Let alone the mighty “Don’t Rape The Nature“ shine. Also the emotional “My Hometown“ is a true highlight as well as the rather quiet “So Fine“, a classic ballad. “Never Say Never“ is great stuff for fans of ROULETTE, SAPPHIRE EYES or AGE OF REFLECTION, too. An acoustic version of the title track ends the album in a very high manner.

NEWMAN - Ignition
|
A: 11 € |
B: 13 € |

After three years “break“ where mainman Steve Newman concentrated on songwriting for other acts, “Ignition“ will likely surprise. It’s the most „colourful“ record of NEWMAN so far. They are pushing the borders slightly more left and right compared to the previous records. Tracks like the anthem “Worth Dying For“, the highly melodic “Chasing Midnight“ or the title track, actually bridging contemporary sounds and typical eighties pop-rock of the better kind, speak for themselves. But also the energetic “Last Chance“ and foremost “The Island“, reminiscent of the mighty TOTO, deserve attention. Amazing record, this “Ignition“!

EXPECTED NEW RELEASES!!
PULSE - Chasing Shadows
|
A: 13 € |
B: 15,5 € |
|
|

|
These British guys were previously signed to Now And Then / Frontiers back in
2001 for their self-titled debut, then MTM Music for their second effort' Worlds
Apart' during 2004. Then they disappeared off the map 15 years, re-emerging in
early 2020 with this self released effort. In any case, Pulse are back, and
doing it on their own accord. They have a good sound, somewhat like early era
Ten plus a bit of Magnum, but that's to be expected really as several of these
blokes were in Bob Catley's band. Overall it's competently played, and the
production is really good. "Chasing Shadows" comes to us in 2020 as an
unheralded album, mainly due to lack of professional marketing and PR; but with
the internet it shouldn't be a problem. |

|
American vocalist FRANK VESTRY is releasing a selection of songs from the past
works / bands he was part of throughout his career, including the awesome
Marcello / Vestry project, Last Temptation, his recent album with Laneslide,
Devias, Burning Starr and more, all digitally remastered. The 12 songs from
“My Collection” span 3 different decades of Frank Vestry and it's full packed
with highlights from his career incl. the phenomenal Marcello Vestry project
with Rob Marcello. Conoisseurs should keep an eye on tracks like "Desperate"
from a band called Devias (whcih released a 4 track demo during the 80s) or the
outfit The Pack and their great tune "Starcrossed". Indeed a really good
compilation of awesome melodic rock stuff !

Hardrock from India? Yeah..there is something. Check out GIRISH AND THE
CHRONICLES who offer finest stuff for lovers of early GOTTHARD, KROKUS or even
BULLET. And “Rock’N’Roll Is Here To
Stay“ is a powerful and extremely groovy song with a huge hit potential
like “Rock The Highway, the titletrack of their second album, too. The ballad
“Angel“ is another remarkable number. Hey folks, we’re back in the eighties.
Brilliant…

KIDD GLOVE - Kidd Glove +4 (digitally
remastered)
|
A: 13 € |
B: 15,5 € |
|
|

|
The second stage of the career of AOR hero Paul Sabu kicks
off with his Kidd Glove project (1984). Already held in high regard as a melodic
rock demi-god, Sabu straddles the fence between disco/pop and melodic guitar
based rock. A confusing mixture for sure, but when it's played the Sabu way, it
sounds pretty convincing to me. Highlights on the album are ' the opener Good
Clean Fun' , which is a bit of a furious pop/rock ditty. 'Killer Instinct' has
that undercover lover theme throughout. My favourite track by Sabu is the
incredible 'Street Angel'. This to me is his ultimate, and is not matched by any
of his other material, even to this day. Digitally remastered re-issue from Rock
Candy records incl. 4 bonus tracks.

MOLLY HATCHET - Molly Hatchet +5 (digitally
remastered)
|
A: 13 € |
B: 15,5 € |
|
|

|
By the mid 70s the southern rock sound had been well and truly established by
the likes of the Allman Brothers Band, the Outlaws and, most prominently, Lynyrd
Skynyrd. It was a style that seemed resistant to change but with the release of
Molly Hatchet’s debut album in 1978, that tradition was challenged by a bigger,
louder and harder sound that introduced elements of contemporary hard rock into
the mix. Indeed, Hatchet’s debut album signalled a new, supercharged, approach
to old school blues and country music. Check out tracks such as ‘Bounty Hunter’,
‘Gator Country’ and ‘The Creeper’ for unequivocal proof that southern rock had
entered in a new era. Rock Candy re-issue, digitally remastered.

SABU - Sabu +5 (digitally remastered)
|
A: 13 € |
B: 15,5 € |
|
|

|
Paul Sabu is held in incredibly high esteem amongst rock fans. His first foray
into the music business actually commenced in the late ‘70s, producing a
succession of successful disco records for a number of artists and releasing a
self-titled, but band-orientated, rock/disco hybrid under the Sabu (1979)
handle, which had little commercial impact. After going back to the drawing
board he was signed by MCA for a real rock album. The result was another full
band project issued, once again, with the album title ‘Sabu’ (1980), but this
time the music was full-on melodic hard rock in the vein of Bad Company. MCA
stripped a few tracks off the final release – which are enclosed as bonus tracks.

NEW RELEASES IN STOCK !!
THE BOMBERS - Aim High +3
(digitally remastered)
|
A: 12,5 € |
B: 15 € |
|
|

|
A supergroup formed by Alan Lancaster & John Coghlan from Status Quo, and John
Brewster of The Angels, “Aim High” was released by a A&M in 1990, so expect that
huge major label production and melodic hard rock goodness. I always thought The
Bombers as the Australian answer to Damn Yankees, and you can hear into their
sound as well touches of Y&T, Thunder, Night Ranger, Hurricane, etc. This album
simply kills. It’s plenty of great hard rock tunes with the glossy production of
1989/90, fantastic musicianship, and catchy melodies akin the aforementioned
bands. However The Bombers had their own identity, more bluesy, and… Australian.
Finally out again incl. 3 bonus tracks - get this cracker now !

WILDSIDE - Under The
Influence (digitally remastered)
|
A: 12,5 € |
B: 15 € |
|
|

|
Formed in L.A., Wildside consisted of Drew
Hannah(voc), Brent Woods & Benny Rhynedance (git), Marc Simon (bs) and Jimmy D.(
dr). 1992 was almost the beginning of
the falling down for hard rock, AOR bands and so on.. and for Wildside as well.
Produced by the legendary Andy Johns (Cinderella etc.) and with Steve Thompson
and Michael Barbierio mixing the disc to near perfection you can be sure to get
a monster sound. If ‘UTI” was released 5 years earlier, Wildside would have been
a household name and probably would be talking about a multi-platinum selling
band. Armed with a sound that was a mixture between Ratt and Cinderella, they
had the sound, the talent, the look and the attitude to be a huge band.

HARTMANN - 15 Pearls And
Gems
|
A: 12,5 € |
B: 15 € |
|
|

|
“15 Pearls And Gems“ is a special album offering new songs, live versions of
well-known HARTMANN tracks and style- wise totally different cover tracks - 5
each. The different sides in the sound of the singers and guitar player are
highlighted pretty effectively. It’s an album that won’t get boring in a long
time and actually the best way to celebrate your 15th anniversary as a solo
artist. The extra long live version of “Out In The Cold“ is a true gem for all
AOR lovers in particular.

COMPASS - Our Time On
Earth
|
A: 12,5 € |
B: 15 € |
|
|

|
“Our Time On Earth“ will please fans of RUSH, DREAM THEATER, IT BITES, SAGA,
ARENA or even PINK FLOYD. This collaboration of Steve Newman (g/keys, NEWMAN)
and the rather unknown singer Ben Green is pretty fruitful and productive.
Tracks like “Caught In A Frame“ or “Neon“ are highly melodic, others like to
opener “Skies Of Fire“ offer astonishing details each time. In addition to that
you get a strong and complete production and a beautifully-crafted artwork.

HARTMANN - 3
|
A: 12,5 € |
B: 15 € |
|
|

|
The re-release of the third HARTMANN record “3“ (2009) offers many different
facets. You can find (partly bluesy) classic rock (“I Won’t Get Fooled Again“ or
“Brothers“) as well as rather poppy tunes (“Suddenly“) or even progressive
moments (“Don’t Give Up Your Dream“). The fine ballad “All I Can Say“ needs to
be mentioned, too. The singer and guitar player (AVANTASIA, ECHOES, ex AT VANCE)
delivers as usual. Co-produced by Sascha Paeth.

STEVE WALSH - Black Butterfly |
A: 7 € |
B: 8,5 € |
|
|

|
STEVE WALSH, former KANSAS frontman puts out his fourth solo effort called “Black Butterfly“. A great rock album with a little bit of everything in terms of melodic rock (“Born In Fire“), progressive music (“Hell Or High Water“) and pop (“Warsaw“) that will appeal to a broad audience easily. Together with Tommy Denander (g), STEVE WALSH created an album consisting of many facets. The American seems to have an astonishing sense for melody and arrangements. A great album with a slightly different flavor.
