AOR HEAVEN ::: N E W S L E T T E R :: 24/06/2022

Howdy melodic rockers,

Surprise of the week – the next bunch of Bad Reputation re-issues (Danny Wilde, Slik Toxik, Southgang) has been already delivered to us – weeks before the announced schedule !

Problem of the week – the shipment from down under containing the Clif Magness box sets had about 1/3 damaged boxes which can’t get used any more due to the special packaging. Right now we’re out of stock, we should get the replacement shipment around July 4th/5th.

Last but not least – no news regarding my UPS friends and the lost Keldian / AOR shipment.

I’m looking for Japanese CDs in mini LP format (cardboard sleeve)  for my own collection – all pop and rock stuff. If you have anything of interest – feel free to drop me a line. I’m willing to pay or trade (from my own collection) !

Feel free to have a look what I’ve on offer – it incl. the mega rare 2.A.M. CD as well !

Wishing you a great week

Georg & Monika

DANNY WILDE - The Boyfriend (digitally remastered)

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

US singer and songwriter Danny Wilde began his career during the mid 70s in Los Angeles as a founding member of the power pop band The Quick which only released one album „Mondo Deco“ (1976). Short after Danny landed in another LA power pop outfit called Great Buildings, where he first met his later Rembrandts partner Phil Solem. GB released two albums „Apart From The Crowd“ (1981) and „Extra Epic Everything“ (1982) before splitting up. He got signed by Island Records for his solo debut „The Boyfriend“ (1986), a superb slice of classy mid 80s AOR next to Bryan Adams, Glen Burtnick and Jude Cole. First time ever on CD this is simply a must have for every serious AOR collector ! Bad Reputation records re-issue.

SLIK TOXIK - Doin’ The Nasty +3 (digitally remastered)

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Slik Toxik was formed in 1988 out of Toronto hard rock band Portrait. Capitol Records (EMI) signed the band in 1991 and issued an EP “Smooth And Deadly”. This was followed in 1992 by the full album “Doin' The Nasty”. Both the EP and full-length album were produced by Paul Gross (Wrabit) and they won the 1993 Juno Award for hard rock album of the year. As a whole, Doin’ The Nasty“ is a perfect sleazerock album on par with the Skid Row debut. The songs are perfectly executed and dynamic so that many of their peers’ songs weren’t. The songs have lots of great changes, great hooks, and vocals that are over the top, gritty, gnarly, and distinct. In a nutshell, Slik Toxik was its own band. Bad Reputation re-issue. Digitally remastered.

SOUTHGANG - Group Therapy (digitally remastered)

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Southgang was one of the countless pretty-boy hard rock bands to emerge from the late 80's hair metal craze. Their first album „Tainted Angel“ (1991) was a really good hair metal album very much in the vein of bands like Danger Danger, Bang Tango and the less radio friendly side of Skid Row. Produced by Howard Benson the entire album was co-written by Desmond Child. This set-up got changed for the follow up „Group Therapy“ (1992) which saw the mighty Keith Olsen (Whitesnake) at the production helm as well and the change to a much rawer and slightly more Southern rock flavoured hard rock sound. Overall a top notch album which only got releases too late. Bad Reputation re-issue, digitally remastered.

WIKKID STARR - Return To Gloy

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

WIKKID STARR was originally formed in 2007 by veteran Hollywood vocalist Toney Richards and guitarist Ashlyn Childs but did not launch until 2015. The band has gone through several line-up changes but through it all, they have managed to attain some international success having played in South America in 2015 and releasing their debut album „Sudden Impact“ last year. The follow up „Return To Glory“ is another winner for hair metal / sleaze rock lovers into Poison, L.A. Guns & cohorts. Simple, riff-loaded, loose energetic rock and roll stuffed with dirty guitars, thumping low end, and raw vocals ranting on about sex, fun, rock and roll, and yeah, even a few of the serious things everyone likes to vent about from time to time.

DAN REED NETWORK - Let's Hear It For The King (digi pack)

B: 14,5 € B: 17,5 €

DAN REED NETWORK is one of the very few bands out there with a really distinctive sound. After a long break they are pretty active again for a few years now. The band lead by Dan Reed (v) remembers their strength and beloved features and offers in for instance “Pretty Karma“ or “Starlight“ tracks which could easily have been part of their first three records. Melody meets a massive amount of groove and versatile arrangements. Fantastic record.

DEVIL'S TRAIN - Ashes & Bones (digi pack)

B: 14,5 € B: 17,5 €

This is the German answer to BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, BLACk STONE CHERRY or DEAD DAISIES. The band around frontman RD Liapakis (MYSTIC PROPHECY, STEEL PROPHET) rocks through the twelve songs without any compromise and comes with a heavy production. On drums Jörg Michael (ex RUNNING WILD, ex STRATOVARIUS). What a mighty record. DEVIL’S TRAIN finally made an impact.

CHARLOTTE - Charlotte (digitally remastered)

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

CHARLOTTE's story originally began in upstate New York in 1984 and although a deal never materialized, many industry giants such as Geffen, ATCO, Arista Records, Giant, and Mercury all showed great interest. Splitting up in 1996, CHARLOTTE would, after teaming up with Eonian Records, release the album „Medusa Groove“ in 2010 on the US specialist label. Their sound sound ranges from Dokken to Great White to Kingdom Come to Kik Tracee and the album became a strong seller for Eonian. Fast forward to 2022 Eonian Records has picked up 17 songs in total from the entire recordings and has remastered them. THis is the real deal for lovers of the classic US hard rock and hair metal sound of the 80s.

JONES STREET - Out Of The Gutter (digitally remastered)

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Can you say sleaze please? And while you’re at it, say thank you to Jones Street because that is exactly what they have delivered. This is some of the best sleazy rock music you‘ve heard in awhile, it’s just dripping with, well, sleaze! These songs were recorded from 1991 to 1995 and got released independently in 2008 by lead singer Shawn Crosby under the title of „Dancin‘ In The Street“. The album quickly sold out and has become a rare find at a high price. This digitally remastered Eonian records re-release is a MUST have for any and all fans of Skid Row, Guns N' Roses, Wildside and every sleazy rock lover – don’t miss it !

JAMES HOUSE - The L.A. Tapes (2 CDs, digitally remastered)

B: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

James House is best known as a country star for his three hit Nashville records, recorded for MCA and Epic Records in the years spanning 1989-1994. But before that, James House was a rocker, making his solo debut on Atlantic Records in 1983 with an acclaimed self-titled record that featured James co-writing the album’s 9 songs, plus a young Alan Pasqua on 2 co-writes. The album feat. a superstar line-up incl. Jimmy Haslip,  Mike Baird  (Journey, Rick Springfield, Van Stephenson), Alan Pasqua (Giant), Rick Derringer and more. And James House wrote more rock tracks for a few sound tracks over the next couple of years (which are enclosed as a bonus on disc 2). First time ever on CD - don't miss this classy stuff !
