AOR HEAVEN ::: N E W S L E T T E R :: 05/08/2022

Howdy melodic rockers,

Good news –my health is getting better day by day and there is hope to see me back at the center court playing a nice senior double due end of next week !

As you can see below there is an overkill of new titles already in or due soon. The new H.e.a.t. and the Frontiers releases (Generation Radio, Hydra, Sunstorm, Restless Spirits, Nordic Union) are already in stock.

Some surprise releases from the likes of Cherry St. and Adellaide are both in stock now as well and the long missed releases from Keldian and AOR are finally in stock now, too.

Last but not least – our Japanese supplier has shipped us the Pretty Maids re-issues (Future World, Jump The Gun, Red, Hot & Heavy, Sin Decade) much quicker as expected, that’s why we should get them already by Tuesday next week. They have been remastered with a great sound for the first time in Japan an das they were released in 2018 they’ll be deleted in the near future. We have the word from our Japanese supplier that we have bought the last remaining copies. Feel free to place your order over the weekend to make sure that we can ship before our vacations. You can mention such titles which are still not in at the „comments section“.

Looking for our well deserved vacations by end of next week, but a look at the „coming next“ section below smells more busy times by end of this month / early September.

We have closed for our vacations from August, the 13th until August, the 28th. By paying with Paypal please make sure that your order must get paid due August, the 11th. All incoming orders which we’ll arrive after August, the 11th, will get finished once we return due August, the 29th.

Wishing you a great week
Georg & Monika

INTELLIGENT MUSIV PROJECT VII - Unconditioned (digi pack)

B: 13,5 € B: 16 €

The stupendous melodic rock / AOR / classic rock band INTELLIGENT MUSIC PROJECT are releasing its seventh studio album entitled “Unconditioned”. The legendary Simon Phillips (TOTO) returns as percussionist and musical co-producer of the new album, while the lead vocalist on this release is again one of the most popular names in hard rock / metal music today: Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, MSG). In addition to Phillips and Romero, the album also includes Carl Sentance (Nazareth) on vocals. “Unconditioned” is the more ‘melodic hard rocking’ album from IMP so far, with a pulsating vibe recalling Joe Lynn Turner solo or even the first Sunstorm. The production is crisp and detailed, a real pleasure to listen to.

B: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

“Enigmatic“, the third effort of this band, which at the latest developed into a real band with their second album “Discovery“ (2020), a band with several singers like e.g. Rick Altzi (MASTERPLAN) or Apollo Papathanasio. Songwriting was done by Victor Olsson (g, SAFFIRE). Everybody involved here is Swedish. Great songs in the vein of Tom Galley’s PHENOMENA or AVANTASIA but with a large affection for classic AOR sounds. It’s pure gold!

B: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

“Discovery“, the highly anticipated second album of the Swedish Allstar Project, easily manages to meet expectations. It’s a brilliant hybrid of bands like ECLIPSE or H.E.A.T. and BOSTON and MAGNUM. Using different vocalists - like in AVANTASIA - works perfectly. Songs like “Lorelei“, “Heaven On The Run“ or “Moonlight“ will leave you speechless. The fact that the songs are basically written by Victor Olsson (SAFFIRE) works very positively in terms of tightness of the material.

GATHERING OF KINGS - First Mission +1 (deluxe version)

B: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

Gathering Of Kings is a melodic hard rock project from Sweden, feat. members from Masterplan, Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra, Saffire, Pretty Maids, Within Temptation, Eclipse, Crashdiet, Treat and much more. Supervised by Ron Dahlgren and written by Victor Olsson (SAFFIRE) the entire project can be easily called as the Swedish answer to the legendary PHENOMENA project. Also the production courtesy of Thomas "Plec" Johansson (The Night Flight Orchestra) is top notch and it's the perfect platform for a phenomenal slice of melodic hard rock combining the finest elements of THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, ECLIPSE, TREAT and cohorts. Make sure to grab a copy of this killer album pronto !

PRETTY MAIDS - Future World (JAP CD, digitally remastered)

B: 16,5 € B: 20,5 €

"Future World" (1987) was suppossed to have been Pretty Maids big breakthrough in the US, but while the album was a big commercial and artistic success in especially Japan and Germany, Pretty Maids just never really broke through bigtime in the US. Overall the album is more polished as the debut, but the band were not happy with the job of producer Eddie Kramer (Kiss) and fired him. Guys like Kevin Elson (Journey) and Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica) finished the album and the result is one of the best European melodic hard rock albums of all time - past and period ! First time ever digitally remastered with the awesome Blu-spec proceedings (compatible with every standard CD player) - BUY !

PRETTY MAIDS - Jump The Gun (JAP CD, digitally remastered)

B: 16,5 € B: 20,5 €

This is the third album by Denmark’s finest export to the melodic hard rock and metal world. A great band that have continued recording quality albums since their inception back in ’81. "Jump The Gun" (1990), their third album,  was produced by Roger Glover (Deep Purple) who knows a thing or two about great records, in fact, he actually plays bass on one track, and Ian Paice drums on one track also. The band reduced the speed again as just 2 tracks were fast rockers, but it's full packed with highlights like „Lethal Heroes“, „Don’t Settle For Less“, „Rock The House“, „Savage Heart" just to name a few. First time ever digitally remastered with the awesome Blu-spec proceedings (compatible with every standard CD player) - BUY !

PRETTY MAIDS - Red, Hot & Heavy (JAP CD, digitally remastered)

B: 16,5 € B: 20,5 €

Issued in 1984, "Red, Hot & Heavy") is the Pretty Maids first full length studio recording. Vocalist Ronnie Atkins and the boys score major points for their riveting debut album, as the Danish group pound out riffs and kick down the walls. The hard-charged album covers everything from speedy metal ("Back To Back") over to classic 80s metal tunes like "Night Danger", "Cold Killer", Battle Of Pride", the epic title track or "Night Danger". And what about the super smooth Waitin' For The Time" or the great THin Lizzy hommage of "Little Darling". Regardless of their later releases, this is a heavy metal classic. First time ever digitally remastered with the awesome Blu-spec proceedings (compatible with every standard CD player) - BUY !

PRETTY MAIDS - Sin Decade (JAP CD, digitally remastered)

B: 16,5 € B: 20,5 €

The fourth full studio release from the mighty Danish hard rockers, which saw Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica) in charge of the production (as the band wanted a much rawer sound compared to the previous "Jump The Gun" album). After the relative commercial failure of the band's previous album, "Jump the Gun" (1990), bass player Allan Delong, keyboard player Alan Owen and drummer Phil More left the group by late 1990, leaving only singer Ronnie Atkins and guitarist Ken Hammer. Just the title track really stands out and it seems that Atkins/Hammer really struggled like so many other bands during this time. First time ever digitally remastered with the awesome Blu-spec proceedings (compatible with every standard CD player).

NORDIC UNION - Animalistic

B: 14,5 € B: 17,5 €

Third effort by massive Swedish and Danish collaboration between Erik Martensson (v/g, ECLIPSE, W.E.T.) and Ronnie Atkinson (v, PRETTY MAIDS, AVANTASIA) which again hits the spot. Two exceptional artists that perfectly fit together. Powerful melodic rock and hard rock anthems with cool hook lines (“This Means War“ or “Shot In The Dark“). One of the very few projects out there that really matter! ECLIPSE meets PRETTY MAIDS - all you can ask for! Word!

GENERATION RADIO - Generation Radio + DVD

B: 14,5 € B: 17,5 €

Once again a so-called “supergroup“ but one that really deserves this label. Musicians from JOURNEY, CHICAGO and RASCAL FLATS deliver nothing but fireworks with amazing melodies, versatile arrangements and a huge production which is pristine and powerful at the same time. Let’s hope that this outfit finds its way across the Atlantic somehow. What a beauty! Let’s hope that this isn’t just a one-off. Let alone „Lights Go Out In Paradise“ shine. It will make melodic hearts jump! You can’t do it any better!

HYDRA - Point Break

B: 14,5 € B: 17,5 €

HYDRA is melodic rock from Sweden. Guitar player and songwriter Hendrik Hedström teams up with Daniel Flores (dr/keys, THE MURDER OF MY SWEET, FIND ME). But also vocalist Andi Kravljaca does a great job. Beautiful hooklines, amazing guitar solos and a classy production. Sometimes reminiscent of WIGELIUS, CARE OF NIGHT or WORK OF ART. And by the way, “Forever My Love“ simply is the best ballad ever and ever. Believe it or not. Period.

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Brazilian melodic rock act Adellaide surprised with their promising debut EP in 2016 and a year later with a full length effort, and the follow up “New Horizons” (2019) showcased an even more confident band both in songwriting and performances. Theird third full strike “Déjà Vu” proves again that ADELLAIDE are one of the frontrunners when it comes to first class AOR from South America. Frontman Daniel Vargas is a guy with a privileged voice, a fantastic tone for the style that perfectly fit these melodious compositions. “Déjà Vu” is a superb slice of AOR / Melodic Rock for the lovers of exotic AOR- and melodic rcock stuff.

KELDIAN - The Bloodwater Rebellion

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Album number 5 from the Norwegian duo courtesy of Christer Andresen (vocals, guitars, bass) and Arild Aardalen (keyboards, vocals). Embracing their classic rock influences like never before, Keldian's new record is a nine-song collection of haunting melodies and fiery grooves. The lyrics are based on an unpublished novel co-authored by Christer Andresen, presenting the dramatic story of a not-so-distant future where fresh water has become the rarest resource. „The Bloodwater Rebellion“ is Keldian's first full concept album, offering a thought-provoking sound and vision of tragedy and disaster, but ultimately a hope of redemption.

B: 14,5 € B: 17,5 €

RESTLESS SPIRITS is the side project of Tony Hernando (g, LORDS OF THE BLACK). It’s the second album and once again some great male and female singers pass the microphone to each other. Kent Hilli (PERFECT PLAN), CHEZ KANE or Johnny Gioeli (HARDLINE, AXEL RUDI PELL) do a great job here. Melodic and hard rock with amazing voices and interesting arrangements will make fans of the genre smile.

SUNSTORM - Freedom

B: 14,5 € B: 17,5 €

SUNSTORM, one of the most prolific projects at Frontiers Music puts out another record, just one year after “Afterlife“, which was the first featuring Ronnie Romero (RAINBOW, ex CORELEONI) on vocals and the seventh effort in total. Classic hard rock which offers above average songwriting and simply a fantastic voice. Don’t expect surprises but a great performance on all levels. Just check out the slow “Back My Dreams“ or the rocking “Games We Play“.

AOR - Journey To L.A. +1

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

The fifth release from the French guitarist, keyboarder and songwriter Frederic Slama sees Tommy Denander again at the production helm and it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise that “Journey To L.A.” mixes both 80s - and classic West Coast AOR. With top notch singers like Steve Overland (FM), Fergie Frederiksen (ex – TOTO / LE ROUX), Philip Bardowell (UNRULY CHILD), Bill Champlin and Dane Donahue you can be sure to get first class vocal performances and the highlights of the album are the slightly crunchier tunes like the awesome “Don’t Turn Back”, “Never Surrender” and “Waiting In The Darkness”, which are prime time melodic rock fodder. Initially released in 2009, reworked new version incl. a secret track.

CHERRY ST. - Squeeze It Dry

B: 13 € B: 15,5 €

„Squeeze It Dry“ (1993) was more or less a reworked version of the independently released selftitled Cherry St. album. With distribution through BMG records and with tracks produced by Erik Turner (Warrant) and Tommy Thayer (Kiss, Black N’ Blue), mastering & mixing by Pat Regan (Mr. Big) – who also produced some songs – you can expect a much higher level as with their indie release. Chock full of ballsy, swagger, crunchy hooks and some great lead vocal / guitar work, fans of heavier Poison (think Crack A Smile era), late 80s Motley Crue, Britny Fox, L.A. Guns, Love/Hate, etc, will enjoy this album. There really isn’t a bad song on this – the songs overall just crank. Prerris records re-issue incl. new artwork.

H.E.A.T. - Force Majeure (ltd. edition digi pack)

B: 16 € B: 19,5 €

The Swedish outfit with their seventh album in total and their third with original vocalist Kenny Leckremo who sang on the first two efforts. All the material is really high quality although „the one and only hit“ might be absent this time. Nevertheless, that’s how melodic rock should sound like these days. An ultra-sonic trip through the melodic universe! Not that former frontman Erik Grönwall was bad in any way but H.E.A.T. and Kenny, that’s the real deal!
