AOR HEAVEN ::: N E W S L E T T E R ::: 07/12/2018

Howdy melodic rockers,

Back home after a busy, but really successful weekend at Heat festival. Nice business as usual and our very own acts CARE OF NIGHT, MIDNITE CITY and WILDNESS really rocked the house - a real pleasure for me to have such classy acts on my rooster !

In the meantime all expected new releases has arrived and the orders are really flying in. Please keep in mind that we have closed for our vacations from December, the 21st until January, the 6th.

Listen to our upcoming January 2019 releases from COME TASTE THE BAND and WAKE THE NATIONS at www.metalheaven.net!

Have a great week

Georg & Monika

AOR HEAVEN RELEASES!

CARE OF NIGHT - Love Equals War

A: 11 € B: 13 €

Hit (Edit)

Love Equals War (Edit)

She Leads You On (Edit)

The second album of CARE OF NIGHT took some three years in the making but the Swedes with frontman Calle Schönberg once again put out great stuff. This time by the name of “Love Equals War“, a fine AOR gem. After some line-up changes which also affected the songwriting team, this follow-up comes as a surprise because CARE OF NIGHT manage to absolutely stick to their ground stylistically. Melodies as far as the eye can see (“She Leads You On, “The Tower“ or “Cold As My Heart“), a great combination of vocals, guitars and lots of keyboards. “At Last“ in addition to that,  proves that the Swedes are able to reduce the pace and sound a bit more contemporary at he same time without denying their roots. Well produced again by Erik Wigelius (WIGELIUS). Ten timeless anthems for fans of WORK OF ART, CREYE or CODE RED. Thumbs up!

DAN REED NETWORK - Origins

A: 11 € B: 13 €

 Fade To Light (Edit)

Right In Front Of Me (Edit)

 Shameless (Edit)

In many respects an unusual but highly interesting album that shows the roots and the future of DAN REED NETWORK displaying 4 classics (“Forget To Make Her Mine“, “Ritual“, “Let It Go“ and “Rainbow Child“). Recorded in pairs each in four prestigious studios worldwide (Manchester, Stockholm, New York and Portland/Oregon) in front of an intimate crowd., “Origins“ showcases versatile qualities of the band. It’s quite a remarkable and innovative concept, for which the diverse but somehow always characteristic sound of the Americans seems to be fitting like a glove. Although at the end of the day only eight tracks long, this piece of art definitely feels like a full album. Strong statement!

JEAN BEAUVOIR - Rock Masterpieces Vol.2

A: 11 € B: 13 €

Live And Die (Edit)

Lost Cathedral (Edit)

The Healer (Edit)

“Rock Masterpieces Vol. 2“, like the the recently published predecessor, is an impressive retrospective showcasing the magnificent output of the American who created timeless material with CROWN OF THORNS, VOODOO X, THE PLASMATICS as well as solo-wise. Often reduced to his songwriting talent for other artists such as KISS, LIONEL RICHIE or THE RAMONES, the extravagant-looking frontman has absolutely no difficulties at all to fill another compilation with superb material. It’s a fascinating mixture of melodic rock, hard rock or rather pop-like sounds. It’s the perfect introduction to the work of JEAN BEAUVOIR. All tracks of probably one of the last true rock stars out there have been carefully remastered and at times appear in a different light.

NEW RELEASES IN STOCK!

GOTTHARD - Defrosted 2 (2 CDs, ltd. edition digibook)

A: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

With “Defrosted“ Swiss hardrock band GOTTHARD has more than proven that they are exceptional in an unplugged environment, too. Band classics in the vein of “Mountain Mama“ or “One Life, One Soul“ work this way, too and actually really really well. Nic Maeder (v) does a great job here and there’s no need to talk about the qualities of the band. There is a bonus (“Bye, Bye Caroline“) recorded together with Francis Rossi (v/g, STATUS QUO). This live double album is a true must have!

PALACE - Binary Music

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Right away from the start, the second PALACE record comes around a bit heavier. The Swede Michael Palace (v/g/b) once again teams up with Daniel Flores (dr, FIND ME). Highly recommended for lovers of for example TYKETTO, TREAT or HAREM SCAREM. It’s finest melodic rock. Check out the title track and “Queen Of The Proms“ which surprises with swing (!) elements. A well-crafted melodic record.

DEVIL'S HAND feat. MIKE SLAMER - Devil's Hand

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Mike Slamer is one of the most gifted songwriters, producers and guitar players out there when it comes to melodic rock or AOR. DEVIL’S HAND feat. SLAMER - FREEMAN is a true gem. Another reason for this is vocalist Andrew Freeman (LAST IN LINE) who really nails it here. It’s a project for sure but one of those these days that really make sense. “Rise Above It All“ for example could easily be on any SEVENTH KEY album.

STATE OF SALAZAR - Superhero

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Swedish band STATE OF SALAZAR rises among many other new and fresh band like CREYE, COE RED, CARE OF NIGHT or WILDNESS. Pure AOR with amazing melodies and - within the limits of the genre - a comparatively wide range of songwriting. “Superhero“, album number two, has got no fillers at all and is well-produced. The duet “Lie To Me“ ist einer von zahlreichen Höhepunkten.

MAGIC DANCE - New Eyes

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

You like the eighties? Ok, MAGIC DANCE is absolutely right for you. At first glimpse a bit too much of everything (songwriting, production, artwork) but at the end of the day there are great songs and a clear vision. AOR meets synthie-pop on the highest level. Mastermind Jon Siejka has got a fine sense of melody and of he vibes of his favorite era including all their cliches like mighty keyboards or neon-coloured artwork.

JOHNNY GIOELI - One Voice

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

The American powerhouse vocalist (AXEL RUDI PELL, HARDLINE) with his long-awaited first solo album. “One Voice“ mostly consists of rock songs that are rather the opposite of what he usually does with ARP or in HARDLINE. What you get is another proof that his voice is pure gold which can be easily distinguished from thousands of others. Check out “It“ and “Price We Pay“ to start with „One Voice“.

STEELHEART - Rock'n Milan (CD + DVD)

A: 14,5 € B: 17,5 €

A live document showcasing the 2017 Frontiers Rock Festival performance. The setlist is to be discussed but band classics like “Everybody Loves Eileen“ oder “I’ll Never let You Go“ beat new songs like “My Dirty Girl“ by far when we talk about melodies or crowd reaction. Technically it’s fine and Mister Matejevic sure can sing. Comes as a nice CD/DVD package. Without question value for money.

ALCATRAZZ - Parole Denied- Tokyo 2017 (2 CDs + DVD)

A: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

“Parole Denied - Tokyo 2017“, like the title suggests, is a live document recorded last year in Japan after a hiatus of 33 (!) years. Frontman Graham Bonnet (ex MSG, ex RAINBOW) is active these days like back in the days and although he doesn’t hit every note anymore you can’t escape the magic of songs like “Skyfire“ or “Suffer Me“. Comes as 2CD/DVD with lots of bonus material, like some 1985 demos.

METAL CHURCH - Damn If You Do

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

The guys in METAL CHURCH are still going strong. After listening to “Damn If I Do“, there’s no discussion about that. That’s how melodic but riff-based metal from the US of A should sound like. Again returnee Mike Howe is singing and album number twelve holds twelve magnificent tracks giving fans what they like about the band. It’s great riffs, soaring vocals and a thundering rhythm section. Any questions?
