AOR HEAVEN RELEASES!

JARI TIURA - King Of Lions

A: 11 € B: 13 €

Away From All The Magic And Wonder (Edit)

Friends And Foes (Edit)

London (Edit)

Finnish hard rock voice JARI TIURA is no stranger to the scene. His work with MICHAEL SCHENKER (2005-2006) at the latest made him a name or his more recent collaboration with STARGAZERY. Putting out “King Of Lions“, his first ever solo effort consisting of emotional and mostly classic rock based songs, made a dream come true. A little bit of blues here and there (“Blue Sky Lightning“) and a more or less constant melancholic flavor in for example “Lion Of Judah“ add interesting layers to the overall sound. JARI TIURA, what a voice! Let alone “Away From All The Magic And Wonder“ or “Dreamchaser“ shine and be proof of the sheer quality of the material. A timeless album, hopefully being only the beginning of a long-lasting solo career. Friends of the likes of URIAH HEEP, NAZARETH or SARACEN have to check it out.

EXPECTED NEW RELEASES!

STEEL CITY  - FORTRESS

A: 12,5€ B: 15 €

US label Kivel records still stands since many years for high quality melodic rock releases in the tradition of Firehouse, Adrian Gale, Hardline and cohorts. Their latest release STEEL CITY makes no exception of this rule. The key members behind STEEL CITY are guitarist Mike Floros and singer Bryan Cole, who made already some big waves with his solo debut "Sands Of Time". Backed by local guys Scott West (bass) and drummer Ron McCloskey the quartet delivers a first class melodic rock release. With the mighty Johnny Lima at the production helm you can be sure to get a cracking album right between Bryan' Cole "Sands Of Time" and  Johnny Lima's solo stuff - satisfaction guaranteed !

FM - Atomic Generation

A: 13€ B: 15,5 €

“Atomic Generation“ combines all qualities of the five-piece. No FM album since “Tough It Out“ (1989) has ever been so close to the original sound of the band (“Golden Days“). Not only the unique voice of Steve Overland but also superb songwriting and high musicianship are remarkable. There’s definitely a lot of blues (“Playing Tricks On Me“ or “Stronger“) in it, too, easily bridging the gap to their more recent outputs.

W.E.T. - Earthrage

A: 13€ B: 15,5 €

It took a while but here it finally is, the third album of AOR/melodic rock “supergroup“ W.E.T.. It’s still Jeff Scott Soto (voc., SONS OF APOLLO, TALISMAN), Erik Mårtensson (g, ECLIPSE) and Robert Såll (keys, WORK OF ART) delivering energy-driven and highly melodic stuff that will please fans easily. “Earthrage“ is slightly harder and more contemporary sounding than the first two albums but definitely a hundred percent W.E.T i- f not even more!

NO HOT ASHES - N.H.A.

A: 13€ B: 15,5 €

After long delays “No Hot Ashes“, the debut of the Northern Irish hard rock band founded in 1983 (!) is finally out. It’s a debut album with lots of great hooklines, interesting arrangements and a perfect, crystal-clear production. There are lots of songs with a hookline guarantee (“Boulders“ or “Running Red Lights“). It’s a cool hybrid of hard rock and AOR. To cut a long story short: A true highlight for every melodic rocker out here! Produced by Merv Goldsworthy and Pete Jupp (FM).

AXEL RUDI PELL - Knight’s Call (ltd. edition digi pack)

A: 13,5 € B: 16 €

Yes, apparently he’s doing the same thing over and over again but he’s doing it pretty well. And it looks like he’s gathering more and more fans with every album. In a very positive sense, AXEL RUDI PELL delivers like a clockwork. “Knight’s Call“ has the epic tracks like “Tower Of Babylon“ and the faster ones (e.g. “The Wild And The Young“ or “Slaves On The Run“), of course. Robby Rondinelli (ex RAINBOW) on drums is a great addition to the band, though.

L.A. GUNS - Made In Milan (CD + DVD)

A: 14,5€ B: 17,5 €

“Made In Milan“, recorded at the 2017 Frontiers Rock Festival, showcases the band around Tracii Guns (g) and Phil Lewis (v) in excellent condition. Harder than on record and with a rough attitude as well as with a little bit of sleaze, the Americans are rocking like hell on these fourteen tracks. Everything fully live without a net as shown by one or two little flaws in “Kiss My Love Goodbye“. Pretty cool and authentic recording, though!

BULLET BOYS - From Out Of The Skies

A: 13€ B: 15,5 €

The former glam rockers from Los Angeles sound slightly more contemporary these days. „D-Evil“ witnesses a guest appearance by EAGLES OF DEATH METAL-Fronter Jesse Hughes. Fans of the early records should nevertheless give it a spin and apart from that, “From Out Of The Skies“ provides some highlights like for instance the driving “Once Upon A Time“ but in general is all but foreseeable.

DRIVE, SHE SAID - Real Life (digitally remastered)

A: 12,5€ B: 15 €

‘Real Life’ was originally released back in 2003 by Drive, She Said the band who featured vocalist / guitarist/bassist Al Fritsch and keyboards wizard Mark Mangold. If you are looking for pomp rock with some stunning vocals and keyboards ‘Real Life’ is an album you need in your collection, and if you already own a copy then this re-mix/re-master is well worth having as well. You get rock with ‘Overdrive’ where the vocals and guitars race along almost competing with each other, whilst ‘We Live For Love’ would have been all over MTV/radio has it been out in the mid-late ’80′s. The initial release suffered from a decent production, but this remixed and remastered version sounds like it used to be. Pure class !

SALTY DOG - Lost Treasure

A: 12,5€ B: 15 €

“Lost Treasure“ is the second, previously unreleased album of L.A. rockers SALTY DOG. As one of the many victims to Grunge, they couldn’t fully sustain and meet the high expectations although their highly acclaimed debut “Every Dog Has Its Day“ (1990) took the Sunset Strip by storm back in the day. Nevertheless, it’s straight and rough hard rock in the vein of RATT or GREAT WHITE that will catch your attention for sure.

WISHING WELL - Rat Race

A: 13€ B: 15,5 €

"Rat Race" is the second strike from Finland based WISHING WELL, but here we have a new vocalist behind the mic. Well, let me tell you he fits like a glove. His vocal timbre is reminiscent of Ian Gillan, and Wishing Well loves Deep Purple song-wise. As you already suspect, Wishing Well could be best described as the Finnish answer to classic Rainbow and Deep Purple, but there's more in the boiling pot. You can call it revival, you can call it influence, you can call it copy-cat, but Wishing Well brings back like few the classic sounds / melodies of Rainbow, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, etc, all done with quality and class. I can see why Doggie White will sing for the band during their next European tour. These guys are good, very good.

NEW RELEASES IN STOCK !

LITTLE CAESAR - Eight

A: 13,5€ B: 16 €

Finest hard rock with a considerable slice of blues. Although the material slightly weakens towards the end of the record, songs like “Crushed Velvet“ or “Straight Shooter“ are proof that LITTLE CESAR is able to write cool songs in a genre that seems to have seen everything. The Los Angeles band delivers on album number six and clearly points out that they are still going strong. BAD COMPANY meets AC/DC meets ZZ TOP. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

REACH - The Great Divide

A: 13€ B: 15,5 €

This is the 2nd album from the Swedish band which released their debut "Out To Rock" in 2015. The only remaining original band member (and Pop idol winner), Ludvig Turner now handles vocals, guitar and all the songwriting. Good move. This is as exciting a melodic rock album as you’ll hear in 2018. The album is full to bursting with pumping, power rock choruses. There’s also a lot of contemporary pop here, with big vocals set inside huge soundscapes. Produced by HEAT’s Jona Tee and mixed by Tobias Lindell, so no real surprise that major key stomper and album standout, ‘Live Or Die’, combines HEAT’s lighter waving, crowd swaying pop optimism with Bon Jovi’s aggressively infectious arena rock..

SPECIAL OFFERS!

CARE OF NIGHT - Connected

A: 7,5 € B: 9,5 €

Classic AOR from Sweden never dies! Every few months a new band from the north is about to continue the legacy of bands like ALIEN or BAD HABIT. Latest hopefuls are CARE OF NIGHT who arised from the Metal band SEVEN TEARS. Their debut was produced by Anders and Erik Wigelius (WIGELIUS) and even though it’s not overly original or challenging, it features many strong melodies, high dynamics and some recognition value. Songs like the up-tempo opener “Cassandra”, the impulsive “Those Words”, the saxophone accompanied “Dividing Lines”, the subdued “Unify” or the the more than 7 minute long opus “Say You Will” are like a Ferrero Rocher: You already know what it’s gonna taste like, but it’s always a pleasure! In other words: If you like the description “WORK OF ART meets HOUSTON meets STREET TALK”, then add CARE OF NIGHT’s “Connected” to your order form!

COLD CHISEL - The Perfect Crime

A: 7,5 € B: 9,5 €

Pioneers of the Australian rock scene, COLD CHISEL are here to prove that they’ve still got it with their new album "The Perfect Crime". The album sees the balance of hearty tunes that are full of driven guitars, and slower songs that feature much more piano and a snappy beat. Although "The Perfect Crime" might not be ‘The Perfect Album’ it does have many redeeming qualities and some finely crafted pub rock that can appeal to everyone. It’s mainly full of impressive lyrics that are elevated to new levels of grit and power by the strong backing vocals. It’s a bit rock, a bit jazz and it’s got some elements you wouldn’t expect from Cold Chisel, but Jimmy Barnes certainly owns it.
