AOR HEAVEN RELEASES!

ATLAS - In Pursuit Of Memory

A: 11 € B: 13 €

Bad Habit (Edit)

Breathe Me In (Edit)

Samsara (Edit)

A young and fresh melodic outfit from England puts out their debut these days. ATLAS play a fascinating blend of AOR/melodic rock and progressive tunes. A beautifully-crafted artwork and surprisingly deep and meaningful lyrics complete the picture here. The vocals (Craig Wells) are reminiscent of Geddy Lee (RUSH) at times but with lots of original features as well. Mostly pretty AOR and never too sophisticated when it gets progressive, “In Pursuit Of Memory“ offers versatile songwriting. Listening to “Flesh And Blood“ or “Supernova“ alone will easily convince you to dive into the world of ATLAS. That’s exactly how contemporary AOR in the vein of W.E.T. should sound like. Guest vocals by Sam Millar (BIGFOOT). ATLAS: Definitely a band to remember!

NEWMAN - Decade II (2 CDs)

A: 12 € B: 14,5 €

Breaking The Barrier (Edit)

Girl Found Love (Edit)

One More Night With You (Edit)

NEWMAN apparently is one of the most productive bands out there when it comes to melodic rock. “Aerial“ (2017), the latest studio effort, is still kind of fresh but “Decade II“, a kind of expanded best-of, is already there. It contains a two-disc-set with 17 songs compiled from the last five studio efforts and another 17 unreleased or at least rare songs (e.g. Japanese bonus tracks) taken from that very period. The British band lead by Steve Newman (v/g) plays powerful up-tempo rockers as well as emotional ballads or slightly progressive sounding tracks that have one aspect in common: passion. Additionally, the fact that quality-wise the second disc is as good as the first one points out the great talent showcased in NEWMAN. Strictly limited edition of 1000 copies.

EXPECTED NEW RELEASES !

ACACIA AVENUE - Worlds Apart

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

The project actually came together in the year 2009 and the band members treat the band as a project since the musicians live in different countries. This is their fourth full-length studio release after "Acacia Avenue" (2010), "Cold"  (2014) and "Early Warning" (2016) featuring the talents of several vocalists and musicians like Peter Sundell (C.O.P., Grand Illusion), Dagfinn Joensen (FATE) and Torben Lysholm (PANGEA, MASTERELL) just to name a few. Solid melodic rock stuff from start to finish, check it out.

BRAINSTORM - Midnight Ghost + DVD (ltd. edition digi pack)

A: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

German power/melodic metal outfit BRAINSTORM always delivers. Album number twelve, “Midnight Ghost“, is full of anthems and will absolutely please the many followers. Furthermore, Andy B. Franck without doubt is one of the finest frontmen of the genre. You get the full range from fast neck breakers (“Devil’s Eye“) to atmospheric mid tempo anthems (“Revealing The Darkness“) and you get it with one hell of a sound.

DYNAZTY - Firesign (ltd. edition digi pack)

A: 13,5 € B: 16 €

One of the most exciting heavy metal bands these days is DYNAZTY from SWEDEN. Riffs that take no prisoners, simple but very effective songwriting and some more keyboards this time, that’s how “Firesign“ successfully bridges the gap between their former records and some careful development in terms of style. Party playful guitars and the expressive voice of frontman Nils Molin add to the fact that “Firesign“ is a very strong melodic metal album.

DION BAYMAN - Better Days

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

After three proper independent releases which caught the attention of fans and media from the melodic rock circles around the world, Australian melodic rocker Dion Bayman agreed to team up with a record label for the first time in order to reach a bigger number of followers and music lovers around the world with his music. "Better Days" shows the unquestionable skills of Dion Bayman in capturing the essence of a catchy and up-to-date FM sound, built on high quality songwriting reminiscent to the likes of late 90's Bon Jovi, Richard Marx & Bryan Adams. As usual the Australian one man army has wriiten, recorded and produced the whole album for the pleasure of every melodic rock lover.

PLEASURE MAKER - Dancin' With Danger +1

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

PLEASURE MAKER is a Brazilian hair metal outfit which has released their debut "Love On The Rocks" in 2004 and the follow up "Twisted Desire" in 2008. After a seven-year break, the band reunited in 2017 to record this third album, “Dancing With Danger”. That means that you get another dose of 80s inspired melodic rock with the occasional touches of glam. Main musical references are Dokken and Ratt as the guitar playing of guiatrist Alex  Meister combines elements of both Warren DiMartini and George Lynch. Listeners who are not yet familiar with the band might have a difficult time with singer Claudio's high pitched, banshee like voice but personally it didn't stop me from having a good time with this disc.

LIONCAGE - Turn Back Time

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

“Turn Back Time“, third album of German hard/melodic rockers LIONCAGE, offers groove and strong melodies (e.g. “Comfort Me“, “Believe In Magic“ or “So Long Ago“). A bit harder than the first two albums, you get twelve versatile tracks, produced with a lot of love for details and with amazing backing vocals as well as interesting arrangements all over the place. Lovers of handmade and honest music will immediately fall in love with this album.

OSUKARU - House Of Mirrors

A: 11 € B: 13 €

The fifth release from the Swedish melodic rockers feat. bandleader and guitarist Oz Osukaru sees them heading back into a more melodic rock flavored direction. Their previous album "The Labyrinth" (2017), which was a concept album, saw them heading  into a slightly heavier direction, but this time they're back on track in the style of their earlier releases. The problem with the new album is still singer Fredrik Werner, cause he is indeed the weak link in the band.

SAPPHIRE EYES - Breath Of Ages +1

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

SAPPHIRE EYES is the realization of an ambition that has been knocking about in Alyson Avenue keyboardist Niclas Olsson’s head for several years; to form a male-fronted AOR band. Sapphire Eyes already pleased us four years ago with its self-titled debut, and now are back with second opus "Breath Of Ages". This really is high quality AOR; full of shimmering keys, guitars that punch and soar in equal measure, strident rhythms and those oh so delicious, honey-soaked vocal verses / choruses. Original Alyson Avenue singer Anette Olzon (again with the band after a time with Nightwish) appears on the ballad 'I Won't Leave With A Lie', one of the highlights. Truly superb stuff for AOR- and melodic rock lovers.

BLACK MAJESTY - Children Of The Abyss

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

Already album number seven of Australia’s power metal outfit BLACK MAJESTY and without doubt one of their very best. Fans of both HELLOWEEN and GAMMA RAY will absolutely love it. “Children Of The Abyss“ successfully manages to provide the full scale of the genre and showcases a powerful production, too. Mixed and mastered by Roland Grapow (MASTERPLAN). Check out the anthems “Dragons Unite“ and „Always Running“.

SPECIAL OFFERS!!

JAVA - Change Of Heart

A: 7,5 € B: 9,5 €

Strictly limited to 1000 numbered units, this release is the only result of the band JAVA around Rosella Santoro (v/keys) and Rob Deegan (g/v). Finest hard rock/AOR recorded in 1987 and sounding exactly like that. „Change Of Heart“ finally sees the light of day, something that back in the days for whatever reason didn’t happen. At times with influences from VAN HALEN, BON JOVI or HEART.

LIONCAGE - II

A: 6 € B: 7,5 €

LIONCAGE without doubt walk the path of TOTO, JOURNEY or HUEY LEWIS. Although being a German band they sound pretty international due to singer Thorsten Bertermann. "Secrets" with a guest appearance of Tim Pierce (e.g. RICK SPRINGFIELD) is a track that CHICAGO would have hardly done better in the eighties and for instance "Mysterious Angel" or "The Inner Circle" simply rock. LIONCAGE bubbles. The lions are ready to break out!

RAGE OF ANGELS - The Devil's New Tricks

A: 7,5 € B: 95 €

Sophomore release of melodic rock project put together by Ged Rylands (ex TEN, TYKETTO), Way more classic rock elements and only one vocalist this time instead of many. It's Rob Moratti (ex SAGA, FINAL FRONTIER) this time and he is doing a great job. High quality songwriting, excellent musicianship and a top production. No fillers at all and a lot of details to be discovered. One of the must haves for every melodic maniac this year.

THE ANGELS - No Exit

A: 5 € B: 6,5 €

"No Exit" is the follow-up album to The Angels (known as Angel City in the US) classic "Face To Face" album. You'll find the same energetic crowd favourites here as on FTF, but there's some songwriting growth on display with tracks like "Out Of The Blue" and "Dawn Is Breaking", which have quiet and sombre moments like "Outcast" on FTF. The Angels (along with AC/DC and Rose Tattoo) helped to create and define an era of Australian rock music. No Exit is an integral part of that era, and is arguably the middle part of a series of three albums which defined The Angels, and documented their growth for what was a remarkably short period of August 1978 to July 1980.

THE RADIO SUN - Unstoppable

A: 6 € B: 7,5 €

Probably Australia’s best melodic rock/AOR band THE RADIO SUN underlines their status with „Unstoppable“. Eleven tracks to make you smile. “Surrender Your Heart“ or “Unstoppable“ take you by storm. Close to perfect material for lovers of e.g. DANGER DANGER, CHEAP TRICK or ROXUS. Only vocalist Jason Old is responsible for a minor drawback of the rating. Once again produced by Paul Laine (DARK HORSE).

WALK ON FIRE - Mind Over Matter

A: 7,5 € B: 9,5 €

Long lost 24-track-analogue-recordings, once meant to form the follow-up to the 1989 WALK ON FIRE debut, are backbone to "Mind Over Matter". Musicians from ASIA, BRIAN MAY band, SPANDAU BALLETT and Secret Affair were involved. Pretty guitar-driven and showcasing the amazing talent of Alan king on vocals. A record like a time travel to the age when rock was everything. Alone "Spinning Wheel" and "Pleasure Of Pain" would make "Mind Over Matter" a fantastic choice. A melodic rock jewel!
