AOR HEAVEN RELEASES!

PETER H. NILSSON - Little American Dream

A: 11 € B: 13 €

Little American Dream (Edit)

Me And You (Edit)

You Better Run (Edit)

The Swedish guitar player PETER H. NILSSON is basically unknown outside his home country but has got a great talent for melodies and arrangements. “Little American Dream“ is the result of an Swedish-American collaboration that lead to a very mature rock record bare of (almost) all musical and lyrical cliches. This record on which at times guitar and keyboard change their leading role, doesn’t fit any category and that isn’t its aim at all. Some tracks, though, are rather Westcoast (e.g. “Timeless“). The vocals by Chris Biano from Nashville, USA are remarkably well done and he might be one of the discoveries this year. Furthermore, the production of “Little American Dream“ is absolutely stunning! Only point of criticism here is the fact that this fantastic piece of music is too short.

TRISHULA - Scared To Breathe

A: 11 € B: 13 €

I Can See It In Your Eyes (Edit)

I Never Cried (Edit)

Scared To Breathe (Edit)

TRISHULA is the brainchild of British guitar player Neil Fraser (ex TEN, RAGE OF ANGELS) and certainly not - like the first impression of the artwork or the name that is derived from Hinduism and depicts a three-pronged spear might suggest - a record that is dark and depressing but rather an amazing piece of hard rock with meaningful lyrics and lots of positive vibes. It comes without fillers of any sort. For example tracks like “A Thousand Pieces“, “Secrets And Lies“ or especially “Homeland“ as well as the emotional ballad “I Never Cried“ are true gems offering exciting details even after various spins. A really good choice for all lovers of British melodic rock of the likes of TEN, HEARTLAND, NEWMAN or FM. To cut it short: TRISHULA, a name to be remembered!

EXPECTED NEW RELEASES !!

GYPSY ROSE - Reloaded

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

GYPSY ROSE released the album ”Gypsy Rose” in 2005. Back then, it was an awaited album by a band that had been formed already in 1981 and then disbanded in 1993. Stylewise this ranges from rather pure AOR with a hard rock base, to sleaze tinged hard rock. AOR fans should check up the fine “Promise to stay” as well as the semi-ballad “Moonlight”. A few songs, like “You are the one” and “Fender ‘59”, sound quite a lot like a slightly more edgy SCORPIONS partly because the lead vocals of HÅKAN GUSTAFSSON has got quite a lot of KLAUS MEINE (SCORPIONS) over it. And the bonus track “Solitude” is actually among the best songs! Digitally remastered re-issue.

MASS - Still Chained

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

Southern German rockers MASS - not to be confused with the American band by the same name! - put out eight hard rock albums with a great portion of heavy metal between 1977 and 1986. The best songs plus two brand new tracks have been (re-)recorded by the new line-up. Great stuff for fans of ACCEPT, SCORPIONS or URIAH HEEP. It’s definitely been worth the wait of thirty years! Welcome back!

N.EX.U.S. - N.ex.u.s.

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

Italian outfit N.EX.U.S (Neural EXperimental Unit of Security) was formed in 2015 and with expansive and always intriguing arrangements, "N.Ex.U.S" is a varied album ranging from melodic hard and AOR, to progressive. Mastermind Alessandro Del Vecchio accepted the task of recording, producing, mixing and mastering, having been intrigued by N.Ex.U.S. since first hearing their material. If you find the time to listen to it in detail "N.Ex.U.S" is much more meaty than it seems at first listen. There's excellent arrangements, clever atmospheres, and some killer solos, all wrapped by a clear production. Kudos to Del Vecchio to get out the best of these guys, and at the same time for creating a very listenable, melodious record.

ALCHEMY - Dyadic

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

With the previous album "Never Too Late" (2016) , Italian based  hard rockers Alchemy seemed unsure of their musical style, striving mostly for melodic heavy metal. Now the band has refined their sound to straight AOR melodic hard rock, yet with symphonic textures. Some metal edge remains with sharp guitar riffs and a big beat. However, with one listen, you can tell they worked hard to make songs with a large musical presence notably with stronger guitar lines, a tighter rhythm section, more vibrant keyboards, and bigger vocal arrangements. Alchemy has out done themselves for their second album. Showing fine musical maturity and creativity, Alchemy has delivered a fine and entertaining album of AOR melodic hard rock.

NEW RELEASES IN STOCK !

A NEW REVENGE - Enemies & Lovers

A: 13,5 € B: 16 €

An all-star line up of classic hard rock veterans, A New Revenge includes Keri Kelli (Alice Cooper, Vince Neil Band), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot), James Kottak (Scorpions, Warrant, Kingdom Come) and vocalist Tim 'Ripper' Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen). The ten songs recorded here are a treat for ears of hard rock fans. A positive vibe, an ease and great hooks, that’s what this album is all about. While inspired by the traditional style of the genre, what surprises is the modern and dynamic sound of the album. While there's strong songs on this debut, I think the songwriting isn't that consistent. I mean, I was expecting more memorable scales, choruses, etc.

MESSANO - Messano +5 (digitally remastered)

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Bobby Messano was previously a member of Starz, Franke & The Knockouts and Tycoon, but has played with a heap more.. to numerous to name here. Just prior to this album being released in 1989, Bobby was working with the likes of Joe Lynn Turner and Lou Gramm - even going out on tour with Lou who was supporting his debut solo album at the time. I guess there would be a bit of interest in the album by AOR and melodic rock types, due to the inclusion of material co-penned by the likes of the late Norman Mershon from Tycoon, the guys from Starz, and of course Franke Previte and Tico Torres from Bobby's Franke & Kos era. Musically it's good semi hair-metal/melodic rock with a nod to bands like Skull and Only Child.

KNIGHTS REIGN - Knights Reign +5 (digitally remastered)

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Little-known Texas act KNIGHTS REIGN formed during the when ex-Lix members Tony Marsh (guitar) and Mike Reiner (drums) joined forces with vocalist Tim King, previously of Baltic Avenue. A catalog of songs were crafted over the course of about one year during the early-'90s and recorded in a temporary studio set up in Reiner's home. The result was a self-recorded, self-produced, and self-released 12-song CD issued through Perisphere Records in 1994, which at times even coming across like a harder-edged Journey. The CD has since become an extremely rare collector's item - until now ! The Divebomb re-issue adds 5 previously unreleased bonus tracks from demos of the unreleased 2nd album.

SPECIAL OFFERS !!

LIONCAGE - II

A: 4 € B: 5 €

LIONCAGE without doubt walk the path of TOTO, JOURNEY or HUEY LEWIS. Although being a German band they sound pretty international due to singer Thorsten Bertermann. "Secrets" with a guest appearance of Tim Pierce (e.g. RICK SPRINGFIELD) is a track that CHICAGO would have hardly done better in the eighties and for instance "Mysterious Angel" or "The Inner Circle" simply rock. LIONCAGE bubbles. The lions are ready to break out!

STEFAN BERGGREN - Stranger In A Strange Land

A: 4 € B: 5 €

The Swedish singer did some convincing appearances in hard rock bands and projects in the past (e.g. COMPANY OF SNAKES). "Stranger In A Strange Land" on the other hand is a comparatively quiet, mostly bluesy and partly rocking and  folkish singer/songwriter album. A nice piece of seventies sounding music. Certainly one of the biggest surprises recently. WHITESNAKE veterans Bernie Marsden (g) or Neil Murray (b), among others, are guesting on the album. An album to be paid attention to.
