X-Romance - Voices From The Past

A: 11 € B: 13 €

Lonely (Edit)

Over And Over (Edit)

Total Madness (Edit)

Swedish outfit X-ROMANCE goes back to ROMANCE who were active in the late eighties but unfortunately managed to realize one album only, long gone by now, of course,. Anders “LA“ Rönnblom (g) and  Thomas Widmark (keys) wanted to go for it once again and here it is, “Voices From The Past“. On vocals they now have the mighty Andreas Novak (HOUSE OF SHAKIRA) The pristine production fits the material basically like a glove. Mostly mid tempo can be found throughout the record but a rough rocker by the name of “Pushing On“ sounds amazing, too. Great stuff for everybody who is into melodies. Check out “You & I“, “Temporary Love“ or “Somebody Out There“.

SHOGUN - The Lost Album (digitally remastered)

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

British melodic rockers SHOGUN recorded two great albums, the selftitled debut (1985) and the more AORoriented followup called “31 Days” (1987), with a style close to early Bon Jovi / Surgin /Aldo Nova. After the second album, the band entered the studio to record the proposed tracks for a third album, that unfortunately never saw the light of day, due to Jet Records closing their activity. So here’s finally the official release of this preproduction Master, 13 long lost tracks of great AOR/Melodic Rock keysoriented, close to the style of early Bon Jovi / White Sister / Surgin and Survivor. This was a perfect amalgamation of their two albums, Lost UK jewels series Vol. 17. digitally remastered and strictly limited to 500 copies.

CANNONBALLZ - 8Ballz2Many (ltd. edition digi pack)

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Finest (melodic) rock featuring Robbie LaBlanc (BLANC FACES, FIND ME) on vocals. Also the other members like e.g. Alan Friedman (g, THE ACCOUNTING CROWS) or Vince DiCola (keys, composer of „Rocky IV“ score) are experienced, too, and it’s no surprise that they wrote this gem of an album in only three (!) days. Progressive rock elements at times reminiscent of ASIA or SAGA. A great album which is a true contender for all top tens of 2019.

CRAZY LIXX - Forever Wild

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

The young, well they have been around since 2008, and the wild by the name of CRAZY LIXX are quite busy. There is already a follow-up to the strong late 2017 release „Ruff Justice“. Melodic / hard rock from Sweden full of energy with slices of glam and AOR. Produced by mastermind Danny Rexon (v) and Chris Laney (PRETTY MAIDS). And by the way, “Silent Thunder“ is one THE songs 2019. Fantastic! You can’t ask for more.

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

There are projects from Frontiers Records that might be not really crucial but FIRST SIGNAL with the one and only Harry Hess on vocals absolutely is. They release album number three and all of them have been superb. “Line Of Fire“ is full of top class melodies, has got a strong production and takes you by storm. You get the musical talent of Daniel Flores (d, FIND ME), Michael Palace (g, PALACE) and Johan Niemann (b, EVERGREY, TALISMAN).

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

The Americans LAST WORLD consist of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jim Sheppard (g, TAXI) and David Cagle (v). “Time“ is an easy to listen to rock record which tumbles between melodic and hard rock for the most part. One or two outstanding tracks are missing, though, but let alone the powerful voice of Cagle shine (“Just Another Day“ or “Don’t Bother Me“). Mastered by JK Northrup.

THE BRINK - Nowhere To Run

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Fresh hard rock out of the United Kingdom. The four-piece finally puts out their debut after two EPs. They did their homework similar to fellow British acts like BIGFOOT, WAYWARD SONS or INGLORIOUS, who also seem to have soaked in the seventies hard rock vibe pretty much. But THE BRINK is all but old-fashioned and we can be eager for their first live shows because powerful tracks like “Never Again“ or “Burn“ are extremely promising.

RESTLESS SPIRITS - Restless Spirits

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

The band lead by Tony Hernando (g, LORDS OF THE BLACK) plays melodic hard rock  Different but highly gifted and mostly well-known vocalists bring the astonishing songwriting to life. For example Dean Castronovo (dr, REVOLUTION SAINTS) or Johnny Gioeli (HARDLINE, AXEL RUDI PELL) absolutely deliver here. The new LORDS OF THE BLACK-singer Diego Valdez I can be heard on a few tracks, too. Spain and hard rock is a great combination by now.

A: 13,5 € B: 16 €

After many years of silence from the band, we get the second studio album of the reunion era. The highly acclaimed 2016 release "Too Late To Hate" was the long awaited album the fans had been asking for... and now LUCIFER'S FRIEND bring us "Black Moon". "Black Moon" features three founding members of the band...Peter Hesslein, Dieter Horns and John Lawton (e4x- URIAH HEEP) with Stephan Eggert laying down the drum tracks. 10 new tracks all written by Hesslein / Lawton and classic rock fans should know what to expect - a nice stack of 70s flavored hard rock in the vein of URIAH HEEP meets DEEP PURPLE and John Lawton's voice still sounds great after all those years !

SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE - Space Between (digi-pack)

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

Formed in 2014, the acclaimed supergroup featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson, quickly established themselves as one of the most emphatic and exciting live acts on tour today. With "Space Between", the band harnesses the depth of their artistic experiences and seminal collaborative sound with Hagar's prolific writing vein to produce an album that builds and explodes, song after song, around the concepts of money, greed, enlightenment and truth. The music draws on the band's substantial careers independently and collaboratively, presenting a veteran band still at the peak of their game.

WHITESNAKE - Flesh & Blood + DVD (digi pack)

A: 15,5 € B: 18,5 €

„Flesh & Blood“, the thirteenth release comes with thirteen brand-new tracks, the first ones since “Forevermore“ (2011). Frontman David Coverdale still is top class, at least in the studio, and has gathered superb players around him as usual. WHITESNAKE fully delivers even after 40+ years. Bluesy, powerful hard rock which will stay. Without question, the highlight is the fantastic “Heart Of Stone“.

DARK BLUE INC. - Linked To Life

A: 13,5 € B: 16 €

DARK BLUE INC. is the brainchild of Bonfire and Sainted Sinner guitarist Frank Pane. Pane has secured the presence of talented cats here; Göran Edman at the mic, bass player Hal Patino known from his days with King Diamond and Pretty Maids, and Andrea Vergori (Wheels Of Fire) on keyboards. Pane is an incredibly skilled and multifaceted guitarist, and his compositions / arrangements, far from ordinary. You see only 8 songs in track list, but each are like 3 songs into one, superbly constructed. Read this; at places, "Linked To Life" bring to mind Crimson Glory, then Bonfire, then Axel Rudi Pell. then Steve Stevens solo albums, then Deep Purple, then Queensryche... oh my. And all these work, believe me.

TOTAL STRANGER - Total Stranger +1

A: 13 € B: 15,5 €

An overlooked little gem, "Total Stranger" originally appeared in 1997, not the best era for this sweet type of timeless melodic rock. Simply titled "Total Stranger", this is one of the finest albums in the genre from the second half of the Nineties. But these Canadians didn't care about trends and created this lovely melodic rock / AOR album inspired by the classic sounds. Fronted by Al Langlade - who always reminded me of Paul Laine and his time in Danger Danger - "Total Stranger" is full of hooks, melodies and synths in the vein of Von Groove, Harem Scarem, Tyketto, etc. This reissue features a new cover art and an additional bonus track and is simply a must have for every serious AOR- and melodic rock lover.

DOGFACE - From The End To The Beginning

A: 12,5 € B: 15 €

DOGFACE, lead by Martin Kronlund (g, GYPSY ROSE), have recently called it a day and this record is a best of with the best songs of their three releases. Rooted deeply in the seventies sound-wise and with vocalist Mats Levén (ex CANDLEMASS, FATAL FORCE) being a great factor, DOGFACE are very reminiscent of RAINBOW or DEEP PURPLE. The Swedes have got a remarkable legacy as especially songs like “A Single Reason“ or “Footsteps On The Moon“ easily prove.

FIRMO - Rehab

A: 6 € B: 7,5 €

Italian singer and songwriter Gianluca Firmo was the driving force behind the project ROOM EXPERIENCE (2015), which featured Pink Cream 69 singer David Readman on vocals. Firmo wrote the entire album, which was well received from the press and the fans. Three years later Gianluca Firmo is ready to deliver his first solo album by using his own name and handling for the very first time all lead vocals on his own. With the help of his fellow countrymen Davide Barbieri, Mario Percudani and the mighty Paul Laine (DANGER DANGER) on backing vocals you can be sure to get a great slice of classic melodic rock stuff. The vocals of Gianluca Firmo are solid, but he's a better songwriter as a singer !

PLEASURE MAKER - Dancin' With Danger +1

A: 7,5 € B: 9,5 €

PLEASURE MAKER is a Brazilian hair metal outfit which has released their debut "Love On The Rocks" in 2004 and the follow up "Twisted Desire" in 2008. After a seven-year break, the band reunited in 2017 to record this third album, “Dancing With Danger”. That means that you get another dose of 80s inspired melodic rock with the occasional touches of glam. Main musical references are Dokken and Ratt as the guitar playing of guiatrist Alex  Meister combines elements of both Warren DiMartini and George Lynch. Listeners who are not yet familiar with the band might have a difficult time with singer Claudio's high pitched, banshee like voice but personally it didn't stop me from having a good time with this disc.

TONY LEWIS - Out Of The Darkness (digi pack)

A: 7,5 € B: 9,5 €

TONY LEWIS is probably best known as the voice and bassist for The Outfield. Along with guitarist John Spinks, the two took the '80s by storm with their infectious songs including “Your Love,” “All the Love,” and “Say it isn’t So.” After Spinks’s untimely passing in 2014, Tony took a four-year hiatus from music but was eventually inspired to begin work on his first ever solo album: "Out of the Darkness". Well... Tony Lewis did it here... "Out of the Darkness" sounds more 'The Outfield' than The Outfield last studio albums. Unexpected to me to listen again The Outfield-related new music, Tony Lewis's solo debut album is a pure delight. True Eighties melodic stuff with the sound / feel of that era perfectly nailed by Lewis.
